Shelley Jackson ‘Ineradicable Skin’ project – ‘a story published on the skin of 2095 volunteers’

Hi All,

Have you all heard of the brain child of Shelley Jackson ‘Ineradicable Skin’ project? Its a great idea – it is basically a story published on the skin of 2095 volunteers. 2095 words of an unseen novel to be published only one word at a time per person, these people are selected at random around the world and collectively they will create the novel ‘Skin’.

We think its really interesting, and we cant wait to see how it all comes together! And what are they up to now – well word 1445. Thats pretty cool.

Intern at Vogue Magazine

Hi All

If your wanting to make it in the industry, that be fashion or editorial then you might have the motherhouse of all things fashion in mind – Vogue Magazine.

Vogue has a ‘Vogue editors on their first fashion jobs and internships: part 1’ which is a great read about the roots of people who have those ‘dream jobs’.

Give it a read, the journey is quite interesting and the moral, well there is a time to watch and observe, learn and wash those coffee cups and a time to act.

Once Christine Centenera was appointed Vogue Australia’s fashion editor this year she had a live chat on facebook session open to questions from the public on which i asked how she came to become a fashion editor. She followed a similar suit to what appears to be the case in the Vogue series – hard work and starting at an entry level.

paul smith

Hi All!

A few weeks ago Paul Smith set up his new store in Melbourne and to coincide with this he also did a talk at RMIT about his life and label.

A friend of ours was invited to go along and listen to him talk, upset that we had totally missed this event we came to her ready to squeeze out every detail. She pulled out her note book, and flashed at us some sections of his talk that she thought important to capture. We must say that we were inspired by his words – ‘the best thing is that effort costs nothing’ and ‘never compromise doing what you love’. These words which come from a successful designer who’s ideas span outside of clothing as well, really make you believe that when you are passionate and hardworking the world is yours.

We were thrilled to see when we read the Evening Standard this morning that Paul Smith had given an interview in similar fashion. hope you all enjoy!

A Summer Day Print

Aside

Good Morning all,

As summer is finally here in Melbourne, we are in love with digital print skirts, of the beach, of the city, of any scape you can imagine its being printed with state of the art digital printing – this transferal of art meets fashion and the technological advancement of digital printing allows illustration a nice little spot on the clothing as opposed to just being a reflection of it. We cant wait to see more of them. ladies and men of melbourne, bring on those digital prints!
